ABOUT THE BOOK

The Gifts of Reading for the Next Generation is the second anthology that was inspired by Robert Macfarlane and curated by Jennie Orchard. This anthology includes essays about the joys of giving books to children and young people, which were written by literary luminaries including William Boyd, Madeleine Thien and Alice Pung .

ABOUT THE AUTHOR 

Jennie Orchard has been involved with books and publishing for four decades in London, Asia and Australia. Since 2002 she has been actively involved with two organisations founded by John Wood: U-GO and Room to Read, which supports literacy and girls’ education. 

Attendees can make a gold coin donation to support Room to Read. 

 Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing at the event.

Date: Tuesday 9th December 2025
Time: 10am. Morning tea will follow the talk. Doors open at 9.40am.
Place: Henrietta Rose Room, next to the Bowral Library
Cost: $15 + booking fee for members with discount code, and $20 for non-members + booking fee
